L U G S U G G E S T I O N
If
you want to remain drug free and experience an increase in serenity,
we suggest the following practices:
- Visually
cue yourself to think of SLUGS by using symbols.
- Repeat
to yourself in quiet times Sobriety/Love/Unity/Growth/Spirituality/SLUGS.
Can be done to an eight count when out walking or during other
exercise.
- Contemplate
the deepest meanings of each of these values and honestly examine
where you stand in this regard. Ask yourself “How sober am I?”
and “What does sobriety really mean to me?”, “To what degree am
I loved or loving?” and “Do I now love myself and how much?”, “Am
I connected and committed to a defined group of like-minded people?”,
“Am I growing and how am I growing?”, and “What is my relationship
to God? Do I trust completely?’ Regular self-examination of this
type is very important.
- Talk
about SLUGS with those who are ready to hear it. Set up SlugSessions
(discussion groups) in your area.
- Enjoy
life by focusing on the positive. Keep a fix on the present by
realizing that where you stand today, in this hour, is what is
important. The past is mostly irrelevant and faults or failings
are especially not worth remembering.
- We
think that through practice and repetition, great changes will
surely take place in your life. You can expect more peace of
mind, a sense of fulfillment and meaning in life, and greater
